# The channel is read from rust-toolchain.toml rather than pinned here. rustup
# honours that file inside the mounted workspace, so a hardcoded version is
# silently overridden: rustup auto-installs the workspace toolchain with only
# the host target, and the build fails with "Target x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu is
# not installed". Copying the file also makes the layer cache invalidate on a
# toolchain bump.
#
# `rustup default` must be the command that installs the toolchain: the distro
# rustup only creates its CARGO_HOME proxies along that path, and `rustup target
# add` fails with "rustup is not installed at '/root/.cargo'" without them.
# Installing the toolchain separately first makes `rustup default` a no-op and
# breaks the target add.
